Teannaich
I have played regularly with the band Teannaich since we started in 1995, switching from accompaniment on keyboards to melody on mandolins in 1998. We have travelled widely and clocked-up well over 1000 public ceilidhs, weddings and other performances together.

The word 'ceilidh' in Scotland traditionally refers to various kinds of social gatherings, although nowadays almost always means a welcoming, party-style environment in which you can learn and enjoy specific dances set to music. Ceilidhs are extremely popular all over the world, and particularly in Scotland where they feature in most weddings, festivals and other celebrations, and also occur regularly as public ticketed events. Every month, for example, we play a public ceilidh at Assembly Roxy in Edinburgh, where there will always be some regulars and other expert locals who know the dances, as well as tourists who have never been to a ceilidh before, and so we explain and practice every dance before it starts. Here are examples of dances from Roxy ceilidhs.

Orcadian Strip the Willow (traditional last dance)
Band teaching 'Hanging out the washing' dance
Eightsome Reel (played to 'Eight Pint Pot' on Energised CD)
Waves of Tory (played to 'King's Gerbils' on Energised CD)

Other bands and collaborations
I have been involved in various other bands and collaborations over the years, on the drum kit for annual 'Heart and Soul' events in Edinburgh's Princess Street Gardens and featured on BBC's 'Songs of Praise', playing ceilidhs for the church and local events, and performing at festivals.
