Going solo

Most of my recent solo gigs have featured me playing one of my citterns and singing a tailored selection of modern and traditional Scottish songs, along with a few that I have written. Sometimes I augment the naturally percussive cittern with some 'stomp' pedal to get people dancing, or ‘loop’ a rhythm and chord sequence to play ceilidh tunes over the top. I often play requests, and am very happy to lead sing-alongs, accompany guests, teach ceilidh dances, facilitate folk sessions and collaborating with other artists as requested. Previously, I have performed solo songs and led tune and song workshops on multiple instruments to showcase their unique strengths and limitations, as well as performing solo on piano (with more rock n' roll, pop and funk influences) and on guitar (with more blues, pop and soul influences) - and am happy to tailor my set list, style and instrumentation to the needs of your event and guests.
